Mads Mikkelsen, full name Mads Dittmann Mikkelsen, is a Danish actor who shot to international fame with his role of Le Chiffre in Casino Royale. Much before the 21st James Bond film that also marked Daniel Craig’s first film as Bond, Mads Mikkelsen had become a prominent actor in Hollywood after his portrayal of Tristan in King Arthur. A former dancer and gymnast, Mads Mikkelsen started his acting career at the age of 31 when he played the role of Tonny, a drug dealer, in two films of the Pusher trilogy. In Denmark, Mads had attained fame and phenomenal success much before he became well known internationally and particularly in Hollywood.

Apart from his accomplishments in Danish films and television along with his Hollywood ventures, Mads Mikkelsen won the much coveted Best Actor Award at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival for his role as Lucas in “The Hunt.” The film marked the resurgence of Danish film industry in a new way that had often faded into oblivion over the last two decades.

After his accomplishments, both commercially and critically, Mads Mikkelsen was signed up to play the title character of Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the television show Hannibal. Mads have been widely regarded as a phenomenal character actor who is an extremely safe bet. While internationally, Mads Mikkelsen is known for his critically successful and recognized works, back home in Denmark, he is a star who has a fan following and celebrity status that the top most Hollywood actors enjoy.
