Hannibal is a NBC horror fiction and psychological thriller television series, which first aired on April 4, 2013. The series is based on the dynamic relationship between FBI criminal profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and famous forensic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen). Graham is extremely empathetic and has an uncanny talent for unraveling the hidden motives of serial killers for the authorities. After Graham’s boss, Special Agent Jack Crawford (Lawrence J. Fishburne III) assigns Dr. Hannibal Lecter to be his psychiatrist; Graham begins to notice the disturbing secrets that Dr. Hannibal Lecter is desperately trying to hide.

Hannibal revolves around Special Agent Will Graham who has the ability to empathize with serial killers and re-create murders in his mind by being at the crime scenes. In Season One, he begins by solving a case of missing college girls, and over the season, moves onto tracking down serial killers, such as the Chesapeake Ripper and the Minnesota Shrike, who begins to haunt him mentally. Throughout the cases, Graham also begins seeing Dr. Hannibal Lecter for psychiatric help as the process of identifying serial killers begins to take a serious toll on his mental, emotional, and physical capabilities.
Graham begins to go through long periods of blackouts where he does not know how he gets from one place to another, or even, what he is doing during those blackouts. Eventually, Graham discovered he have advanced Encephalitis, which is causing him to hallucinate, yet, unbeknownst to him, Dr. Hannibal Lecter managed to convince the physician from telling Graham of diagnosis, so he can continue to treat him psychologically. In the end, Graham believes he murdered people, ends up in an Asylum, and Dr. Lecter is secretly killing people and eating their organs, and playing a bigger part in the crimes than Graham is even aware of, yet.
