Michael Carlyle Hall shot to fame with his Showtime series Dexter. He has won a Screen Actors Guild Award as well as a Golden Globe Award for his titular role in Dexter.

Michael Carlyle Hall is a theater veteran and also has several films to his credit. Prior to being cast as Dexter, Michael has been a part of several plays and commercials, including a few at Broadway. Michael had been fond of acting ever since he was in the second grade. At Ravenscroft School, he performed in ‘What Love Is’, was a singer in the choir group for boys and eventually took to musicals while in high school.

He started off in the theater with Macbeth and Cymbeline at New York Shakespeare Festival and later with Timon of Athens and Henry V at The Public Theater. His role as Posthumus in Cymbeline was widely appreciated by critics and audiences alike. Right after his stint at the New York Shakespeare Festival in 1998, he was cast in his first Broadway role when Sam Mendes revived Cabaret in 1999. Thereon, Michael went on to play Billy Flynn in Chicago, a musical in 2003 and furthered his Off-Broadway stage career. Before Dexter happened, Michael was recommended by Sam Mendes for the role of David Fisher in Alan Ball’s Six Feet Under. For his performance in Six Feet Under, he was nominated in the Screen Actors Guild Awards in the category of Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series.

Michael C Hall has done many commercials, voiceovers and has also sung in many of his plays. His list of films included Paycheck, Bereft, Gamer, Peep World, The Trouble with Bliss and the about to be released Kill Your Darlings.

In late 2009, Michael was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a type of cancer. He underwent treatment and according to the official press release from Michael’s agent and spokesperson, he was entirely cured by April 2010. Since then he has gone on to reprise his role as Dexter in the following seasons and has also appeared in several films and plays.

Michael C. Hall is the brand ambassador of Feed the People campaign of Somalia Aid Society and has been actively involved in many nongovernmental initiatives, environmental campaigns and Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
