Anna Chlumsky is an American television, stage, and film actress who was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 3, 1980. She studied and graduated from Walther Lutheran High School and the University of Chicago. Chlumsky started her early career during 1989 to 1998. She becomes prominent for her role as Vada Sultefuss in the 1991 film “My Girl.”
At an early age, Chlumsky entered show business as a fashion model for her mother’s advertising campaign. Aside from her role in “My Girl” in the 1991 and 1994 sequel, she also starred in the 1994 shows “Trading Mom” and “Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain.” During these years, she also starred in several various series and television shows.
Chlumsky abandoned her acting career in 1999 and pursued her studies at the University of Chicago, where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies. She left her career as an actress because her roles became scarce when she reached adulthood. She was afraid to show off too much and decided to pursue studies. After graduating from college, she worked for Zagat Survey as a fast-checker and at Harper Collins as an editorial assistant in science fiction-fantasy imprint.
However, despite the stable job she had, she found herself looking for something and decided to go back to show business. She attended the Atlantic Acting School and received formal acting training. She appeared in an episode of the television show “30 Rock” on March 8, 2007, and as Mary Calvin in “Law & Order.” Aside from this, Chlumsky appeared in several films such as the political satire “In the Loop,” by Armando Iannucci and “The Thick of It.” She also starred in HBO’s “Veep” and appeared in several television series from 2011 to 2013, including “Special Victims Unit,” “White Collar,” and “Hannibal.”
In October 2007, Chlumsky announced that she was engaged with Shaun So, an Army Reserve member. They were married in Brooklyn, New York on March 8, 2008. To date, the couple has one daughter named Penelope Joan So. Anna Chlumsky has a total of 34 film appearances in her entire filmography career. She took 10 years off from acting before returning to the big screens in the year 2007. She had been in the industry of show time business from 1989 to the present and was expected to add color to the HBO shows.
