Carice Van Houten is a Dutch actress that was born on September 5th, 1976. She has appeared in feature films and television in her native country, The Netherlands.

She rose to worldwide fame in the Black Book, a Paul Verhoeven film, where she played the role of Rachel Stein. This movie is about a Jewish woman (Carice) who covers herself up and utilizes her beauty and appeal to stay alive in Nazi during the Second World War.

In Netherlands, Carice became the most dearly loved actresses. She also won various awards, which include Best Actress for her 2011 movie Black Butterflies. She also won 4 times as best actress at Dutch Golden Calves.

She was also voted by critics as the Best Dutch Actress in 2008. Her remarkable presentation in the Black Book a War Epic by Paul Verhoeven marked the start of her Hollywood breakthrough. In Bryan Singer’s movie “Valkyrie,” Carice played the female lead star Nina Von Staunffenberg. In 2011, she joined the whole cast of HBO television hit series The Game of Thrones.

At the age of 5, Carice was taken to a screening of Napoleon, one of Abel Gance’s war epic that captivated her. Since then, Carice had an interest in the movie. Back in 2000, Carice Van Houten joined the Noord Netherland Tonner where she acted and sang a modern presentation of The Three Penny Opera that received lots of positive feedbacks and reviews from the audience.

Carice Van Houten completed shooting the Valkyrie, a World War 2 thriller movie where she played the role of the leading man’s love interest. Carice Van Houten is also Leonardo DiCaprio’s co-star in the spy thriller movie “Body of Lies,” and she also appeared in the science fiction thriller movie “Repossession Mambo” starring Jude Law. Now, Carice is busy doing the HBO series the Game of Thrones.
