Jennifer Carpenter, full name Jennifer Leann Carpenter, shot to fame for her role as Debra Morgan in the blockbuster Showtime drama, Dexter. She has been featured in all the seasons of the series as the sister of the title character. Interestingly, Jennifer Carpenter is the former wife of Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter.

Jennifer has won a Saturn Award in 2009 for the role of Debra Morgan and earlier she had bagged the MTV Movie Award for ‘Best Frightened Performance’ in 2006 for her act in ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’. For the same film, she also received the ‘Hollywood Life Breakthrough Award’.

Jennifer started training in acting when she was just out of high school. She first trained at the Walden Theatre Conservatory program and then she enrolled herself at New York City’s Juilliard School (Drama Division). She bagged a role in the 2002 Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible even before graduating from Julliard School. The play starred Liam Neeson and Laura Linney, among others.

Apart from a Saturn Award in 2006, she was also accorded as the ‘Breakout Performer’ at Scream Awards. Over the last few years, she has appeared in several films, television series and plays. She starred in an off-Broadway play in 2011 titled Gruesome Playground Injuries, which played at Second Stage Theater. She has also made appearances on Saturday Kitchen Live airing on BBC and the CBS drama, The Good Wife.

Jennifer Carpenter has acted in more than a dozen films, debuting with ‘People Are Dead’ in 2001, ‘Ash Tuesday’ in 2003, ‘D.E.B.S’ and ‘White Chicks’ in 2004, ‘Last Days of America’, ‘Grayson Arms’ and ‘The Exorcism of Emily Rose’ in 2005, ‘The Dog Problem’ in 2006, ‘Battle in Seattle’ in 2007, ‘Quarantine’ in 2008, ‘Faster’ in 2010 and ‘Seeking Justice’ in 2011. In 2012, she featured in ‘Gone’, ‘Ex-Girlfriends’ and ‘The Factory’. Her career in television started in 2005 with ‘Queen B’ and ‘Dexter’ came along in 2006. She also has ‘The Good Wife’ and ‘Pound Puppies’ to her credit.

Jennifer is a popular household name today owing to her performance in Dexter, and she has lately been in the news because of her admission on record that she would want to see her character in Dexter to die at the end. She has been pegged as one of the actresses to watch out for, both on television and films.
