Born and raised in Aberdeen, Scotland, Rose Leslie attended Millfield School prior to attending the LAMDA or London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art for 3 years where she graduated with flying colors with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Rose Leslie made her break in the movie industry when she appeared in the 2009 TV film “New Town.” Rose role in this movie made her become noticed by movie critics, and in fact, she won the Best Acting Performance given by Scottish BAFTA. In 2010, she appeared in “Bedlam,” a Nell Leyshon’s play shown at the Globe Theatre. Most recently, Rose Leslie portrayed the role of a housemaid named Gwen in all 7 episodes of the renowned ITV series “Downton Abbey.”

Her loving parents own the twelfth century Warthill Castle in Rayne and Aberdeenshire, as well. Her great-great grandfather was Mexico’s City Mayor Guillermo de Landa y Escandón.

Born in Scotland, closer to Lickleyhead Castle where her whole family has resided for over 500 years, Rose is the third child of four siblings. She went to a local learning school in Rayne prior to transferring to Millfield, a public school. Rose Leslie cultivated her fashion for acting in this place because this institution has a superb drama department. After spending 5 years at this place, she transferred to LAMDA to earn a B.A. degree.

Since winning the Best Acting Performance – New Talent Award, she has continued her career by being active in portraying various roles such as Fiona in the 2012 movie “Now is Good.”

Rose Leslie’s first acting career was in a TV documentary series “Banged Up Abroad” back in 2008. In 2009, Rose appeared in the TV movie “New Town” where she received her first acting award as Best Actress. Rose Leslie also played the role of Laura Wyre for two episodes in Case Histories, a British drama TV series. In 2012, Rose Leslie played as Lena Holgate in “The Ghost Position,” 2.1 episodes in “Vera,” a British detective TV series. Rose Leslie made a remarkable role in the second season of “Game of Thrones,” a renowned HBO epic TV fantasy series opposite Christopher Kit Harington as Ygritte.

From 2012 to the present, Rose Leslie is busy doing the second season of the HBO TV series “Game of Thrones.”
